Do you need to see a Physiotherapist before you see Me? In short, no.
Depending on your injury or condition seeing a Physiotherapist could be a steppingstone before being referred on to me. ‘Sports Rehabilitators help people suffering from pain, injury or illness involving the musculoskeletal system. They help people of all ages and backgrounds maintain their health and fitness, recover from, and prevent injury and reduce pain using exercise, movement and manual based therapeutic interventions.’ This definition comes from BASRaT, my accredited register. As a sports rehabilitation therapist I have training and experience working with a multitude of patient populations such as obesity, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, older populations, mental health and more.
My focus on biomechanics and exercise to return patients to high levels of function. Whether you are looking to return to day-to-day tasks or compete in high level sport I use assessment and personal goals to create a realistic pathway for you. Since being at Harbourside I have continued to expand my knowledge, completing courses in Parkinson’s, Menopause and Mindfulness. I am currently working towards offering pregnancy massage and exercise prescription for the near future. I work closely alongside the Physiotherapists in practice which gives me the opportunity to refer clients to my co-workers who specialise in other aspects of health, such as neuro-physiotherapy and post-surgery intervention.
As a Sports rehabilitation therapist here at Harbourside I offer various appointments such as, sports massage, injury assessments, sports therapy, personal training, and plans, and finally I run majority of the exercise classes tailored to all abilities. If you are looking to be assessed for an injury or have an ongoing ache or weakness you want to resolve with a focus on exercise and health book in with myself for a consultation.
