Andy graduated from Kings College London with a Masters degree in Physiotherapy in 2007. Since then, he has worked as a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist in the NHS & private practice, treating a wide range of musculoskeletal pains & injuries, including post-operative orthopaedic care.

He has previously worked alongside a Consultant Spinal surgeon at the Duchy Hospital as a specialist spinal Physiotherapist assessing for injections and surgery. He thus has a wealth of experience of spinal pain management & the current service provision in Cornwall for this. Andy has also worked as the Head Physiotherapist for a rugby Club, managing sports injury prevention, rehabilitation, optimising performance & pitchside trauma cover.

Andy is member of the Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP) through completing an advanced level Physiotherapy Diploma in 2015. This extended insight & investigation into the research behind Physiotherapy assessment & treatment ensures he provides the most up to date & effective client care at an advanced level of practice.

​

Prior to studying Physiotherapy, Andy completed a Sports Science degree, providing an invaluable depth of knowledge when planning & discussing clients’ treatment & rehabilitation needs. 

​

Andy has previously been involved in a variety of sports through his life at a variety of levels, with current active interests in circuit training, football, watersports & skiing. He prides himself on taking an individual approach to client care, whether returning to sport, recreational activity, work or daily tasks, enabling people to get the best out of life

Beth Wood MSC MCSP

MSK Physiotherapist

Beth qualified with a first-class honours degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Plymouth in 2014. Following this, she worked at North Bristol Trust and The Royal United Hospital Bath where she completed her junior rotations, and progressed through her specialist senior musculoskeletal rotations. This included working at the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases in Rheumatology outpatients alongside the Bath Centre for Pain Services. Beth has gained extensive experience in assessing and treating a wide range of musculoskeletal pain conditions from acute injuries, through to complex persistent pain problems and post operative orthopaedic surgeries.

​

Since moving back to Cornwall in 2018, Beth has continued to work as a Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist and an Advanced Practice Pain Physiotherapist for the NHS. Her areas of special interest include hip/knee injuries, tendon rehabilitation, pain management, and rheumatological conditions. Throughout her career, she has undertaken regular professional development courses and learning to keep her knowledge base up to date. More recently, she completed a module in ‘Neuroanatomy and Neurophysiology and its relevance in pain management’ with the University of Edinburgh. She is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.

​

In her spare time, Beth enjoys leading an active, outdoors lifestyle while keeping fit through a variety of resistance and cardiovascular exercise around family life. Beth has trained and competed at County and National level in several different disciplines. Having had several injuries and surgeries herself, she understands first hand how frustrating and limiting pain can be. As a result, she is passionate about getting you back to where you want to be. Her motivation and enthusiasm coupled with her background and experience reflect her ability and enjoyment when working with her clients. Whether your focus is returning to work, sport or activity, she aims to work with you to achieve your goals.

Lucy Hammick BSC, MCSP

Musculoskeletal Specialist Physiotherapist 

Lucy graduated from the University of Wales in Cardiff in 2003 and worked for the NHS for 4 years where she developed her passion for helping patients to recover from injuries big and small.

She went on to be a senior physiotherapist at the National Police Rehabilitation Centre and work for a National 1 Rugby Club.

​

Lucy has spent the last 10 years working at a private hospital specialising in sports injuries, musculoskeletal problems and rehabilitating patients following fractures and orthopaedic surgery.

Lucy remains passionate about helping patients reach their personal goals whether that is returning to competitive sport or managing a daily walk.

​

Lucy likes to combine evidence based manual therapy techniques with stretches and exercises to help reduce pain and improve patients’ muscle balance, strength and posture. Lucy is also very experienced in hydrotherapy.

 

Outside of work Lucy spends as much time as possible exploring the great outdoors and loves being active with her family, friends and dog.

Maia Adams

Sports Rehabilitation & Massage Therapist

Maia graduated in Sport Rehabilitation from the University of the West of England (UWE). Her work experience includes managing trauma pitch side for various rugby teams around Bristol, working in a busy physiotherapy practice, and supporting sport injury at UWE. She has worked with some at risk groups, including stroke survivors and the rehabilitation of the elderly. Maia is currently supporting the St Ives rugby team and will be working with them throughout the season.

​

As a young person in the field of rehabilitation, Maia is committed to increasing her knowledge and is focused on her continued professional development. She has a strong presence in the coaching community of netball and has facilitated many online exercise classes during the pandemic. In her free time, Maia likes to keep herself active with swimming, weightlifting and netball. Her Gold Duke of Edinburgh achievement embodies her active and community spirit, and she continues to build upon these skills.

Maia is a member of the British Association of Sport Rehabilitators and Trainers (BASRaT), enabling her to apply her knowledge in anatomy and physiology, along with evidence-based rehabilitation, to help one reach their best potential with a whole body and mindful approach

Debbie Cock

Neurological specialist Physiotherapist

Debbie graduated from the Queen Elizabeth School of Physiotherapy at Birmingham University in 1996. She completed her junior rotations in Heartlands & Solihull NHS trust, followed by Specialist Stroke Rehabilitation experience in both acute and community units in Hertfordshire and Essex sparking her passion for treating neurological conditions. Debbie moved back to her home county of Cornwall in 2000 to be closer to her family and for the past 20 years she has been the Clinical lead physiotherapist for Stroke and Neurology at the Royal Cornwall Hospital.

​

 

Debbie has extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of individuals with neurological conditions including Head Injury, Spinal Injury, Progressive Neurological disorders and has a particular interest in Stroke Rehabilitation. Alongside her Occupational Therapy colleague, Debbie set up the Early Supported Discharge Team for Stroke in Cornwall ensuring that patients continued to receive therapy once discharged from hospital.

 

Debbie is a calm and empathetic individual and able to develop an excellent rapport

with both patients and carers, motivating and supporting them to reach their goals and realise their potential in what can be lifechanging events and diagnoses. Having experienced the effect of neurological conditions within her own family she is acutely aware of the importance of the opportunity to have access to specific neurological physiotherapy and the impact it can have on someone’s level of independence.

Emma Webster

Neurological specialist Physiotherapist

Emma graduated from Coventry University with a BSc Hons in Physiotherapy in 2012. Her passion in the specialist area of Stroke and Neurology was ignited on her very first day as a newly qualified band 5, approximately 11 years ago and she has continued to work in this specialist area since.

​

 

She began her career working in an outpatient setting, providing rehabilitation to clients with various complex neurological conditions including stroke. Since then, she has been extremely fortunate to have worked in the specialist area of Stroke and Neurology throughout most of her career. Emma has experience working in a hospital setting as well as working with her clients within their own homes. She has completed specialist training in the Assessment and Treatment of Adults with Neurological Conditions using the Bobath Concept & has undertaken training in Functional Electrical Stimulation.

​

 

Before moving to Cornwall in 2021 she worked in the Hereford & Worcester area as a Band 6 Stroke Specialist. She is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists.

 

Emma also has a BSc Hons in Psychology and Sports Biology which she finds a useful tool for her assessment and treatment approaches and techniques.

​

 

Emma is an approachable, enthusiastic & professional individual who easily builds a good rapport with her clients. She thrives on seeing her clients progress towards having a more independent lifestyle and the rewarding nature of having a positive impact on peoples’ lives.

Claire Rhodes

Massage Therapist

Specialising in remedial massage, Claire’s approach is an integrated one - tailored to the individual and what their body needs at the time. She uses sports and deep tissue techniques alongside holistic and relaxing styles such as hot stones massage. With a background in Thai massage, Claire also brings in elements of this Eastern style, using stretches to work deeper into the muscles and mobilise joints where needed. Sessions can be targeted to a specific area or issue, or simply to de-stress and relax.

​

 

Claire aims to find a balance between the intensity of deep tissue work and the calming effects of holistic massage, providing a treatment that is both effective and relaxing.

​

 

Claire holds a BTEC level 5 diploma in soft tissue therapy, an advanced diploma in Thai Massage and is registered and fully insured with the ISRM (Institute of Sports & Remedial Massage).

 

Outside of work, Claire enjoys Yoga, Pilates and time outdoors with her family. Once a Fire performer, Claire still practices her skills and occasionally dusts off her clubs for the odd show.

Liz Tremayne

Specialist Neuro Occupational Therapy

Liz qualified with a BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy in 2000 from St Loye’s School of Occupational Therapy in Exeter. She completed her basic grade rotation in Cornwall. Liz has specialised in stroke and neurology for the past 20 years and has been the Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist for Marie Therese House, a neuro Rehabilitation Unit in Hayle and for the Stroke and Neurology Service at the Royal Cornwall Hospital. She continues to specialise in this area within the community.

​

Liz strives to support clients to reach their potential, to realise their goals and aspirations. She has significant experience in assessment and rehabilitation of individuals with stroke and neurological conditions including acquired brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and progressive neurological conditions. Liz is creative and passionate about enhancing client’s quality of life and independence. She develops excellent relationships with clients and their carer to support their involvement in rehabilitation. She uses a range of evidence based approaches and techniques to support individuals to maintain or increase their independence and participation in daily activities.

Liz has a Master’s in clinical research and regularly runs research trials. She uses her research experience to support her specialist assessment and treatment techniques and provide opportunities for her clients to participate in available research trials. Liz has a special interest in supporting people to return to work and is an honorary lecturer at the University of Plymouth.

Practice Manager / Director

Robin started working at Harbourside as a part-time clinic assistant in 2014. As time progressed Robin has taken on more responsibility and is now our Practice Manager. Robin's role comprises all of the behind the scenes admin that is required to run our busy practice. He also in charge of maintaining our Hydrotherapy Pool. When not tucked away in a back room you will also find him on reception and is a friendly face that you will get to know.

TERESA KNIGHT

Clinic Assistant

So far, Teresa has had a rich and varied life, working as a nanny and gaining a degree in Anthropology & Sociology, whilst working in London. She has also worked for Oxfam, Scope and The Isles of Scilly Steamship Company as well as on St. Michael's Mount, Teresa worked at Harbourside previously and re-joined the team in 2018 after a gap of a few years

JULIE BLEWETT

Clinic Assistant

Julie joined the practice in December 2019 as Clinic Assistant.
She began her working life in a solicitors office in Penzance.  From there she went to work in two doctors surgeries locally, reception and secretarial, and also worked in Social Care. In Social Care she worked as an Occupational Therapy Assistant working out in the community.
Julie is married with two grown up children, daughter living locally and son away. She has a grandson.
In her spare time Julie enjoys walking netball with the Penzance group. She likes Nordic walking and general walking in our beautiful county.  She also enjoys Pilates and is a committee member of her local WI, which is a very active and progressive group.
